Chocktoot Delta Restoration

The project removed irrigation diversion structures on the Sycan River and restored watershed processes in the Sycan River and Chocktoot Creek. Actions removed 2.4 miles of irrigation ditches and reconnected Chocktoot Creek with wetlands and floodplains providing the delivery and movement of sediment, wood and water onto Sycan Marsh. Historic timing of flow into Sycan Marsh will be restored.

Lewis & Clark College Transportation: An Examination of Alternative Systems

Is a Bio-Diesel Refinery at Lewis & Clark Cost Effective?

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the feasibility of a bio-diesel refinery project on the Lewis & Clark by exposing the costs and benefits of a bio-diesel refinery on campus. Although on paper a refinery seems like an ideal project for the Lewis & Clark College community to undertake, in order to determine whether a refinery is in the college’s best interest it is necessary to understand what bio-diesel is, the investment and operational costs associated with small scale production, and the larger institutional and societal barriers that may restrict the application and implementation of bio-diesel and a refinery on campus.

Carbon Neutrality at Lewis and Clark College

This project investigates the costs and benefits associated with making Lewis and Clark a carbon neutral campus. It first gives background on what carbon neutrality is, the various types of offsets, and the companies which offer these options. Finally, it lays out an implementation strategy based on the projected feasibility of achieving carbon neutrality.

Enhancing fish passage in the Sycan River

This project will remove levees and two water control structures in the southwest corner of Sycan Marsh. Removal of the levees and weirs and restoration of a functional stream channel with floodplain connection will enhance connectivity for unique forms of aquatic fauna from the lower Klamath Basin into the Upper Sycan Watershed.
